Did you know that the Mull of Galloway is the southernmost point on Scotland? You might think it would be somewhere near the border with England but it is actually on the other side of the region - twenty miles south of Stranraer actually.
There has been an active lighthouse at the mull since 1830, which has been upgraded over the years. If you visit there is still an active (and very loud) foghorn!
At the mull there is a visitor centre, some holiday cottages and a cafe with an amazing view.
Once you have had your coffee, take a walk around the RSPB nature reserve. There are some great walks and an interactive visitor centre. The centre has lots to do for kids and a logbook with details of all the birds and wildlife spotted on the reserve. If it's nesting season you can also control some cameras which are pointed at nesting birds on the sea cliffs.
How to get there: DG9 9HP, follow the brown signs and there are plenty of parking spaces at the mull.
