Glentrool, Newton Stewart

glentrool newton stewart visit dumfries and galloway scotland

Galloway Forest has a number of great locations to explore, and one highlight is definitely Glentrool.  We've previously shared Loch Trool (here) - and Glentrool is another great place to visit.

Glentrool has a lot of different walk options and paths, which means you can tailor your walk to difficulty and variety.  One suggestion of a longer walk can be found here, although we would recommend to park near Bruce's Stane (as we described here and with a postcode of DG8 6SU).

Another great point about Glentrool is that it gives you can easily access the highest peak in Dumfries and Galloway - the Merrick (843m).

Glentrool is also a hotspot for mountain biking - not a sport we do, but you can find more information here.
