The quaint town of Moffat - former spa and market town (specialising in wool) - has a lot to offer. It's got a number of lovely independent shops and great places to eat.
If you are in Moffat and looking for coffee or lunch, the spot to go is Cafe Ariete.
About
Cafe Ariete is a traditional family-run Italian cafe on the High Street. It's quite small in size, so if you are a larger party or want to guarantee a table you probably want to book a table.
There is plenty of free parking on the high street or opposite Station Park on the way into town from the M74 motorway.
Menu and Food
The standard menu itself is as expected, with a good mix of breakfast food (Mr Visit D&G had a bacon roll on a very soft morning roll), toasties, paninis and snacks. There is a huge variety of fillings - and I'm sure you could also request your own combination! The bacon and brie toastie was really tasty and came with a nice fresh side salad.
However, the off-menu specials are always a treat. There is often special soups, sandwiches and big selection of cakes to pick from.
Also, the menu is very well priced.
Overall
Overall Cafe Ariete is a great cafe with a great atmosphere. The staff were super attentive and polite, even in a busy Christmas rush.
5/5 and we would recommend stopping in for coffee and a cake or some lunch!
